What a pile! There is so much extra protection on folders and files that I cannot even perform a simple slipstream op. folders and files that I have complete access to do not have complete access when running a command script.

This is what I saw in the Preview, and it's even worse on the "real thing"

What are you trying to do exactly? What folders? Could you post the script?

I was trying to slipstream the Dot Net components here:

My Thoughts: Installing Dotnet Framework 1.1 on Windows 7 beta edition

It's just not giving me permission to run the modifications.

Oh, I see. I agree - I was following you on another thread about the security on WindowsApps directory also. You could edit in 8 (I did), in 8.1 you can't. It seems to be simply impossible. The security is far tighter - I can't update it even while running in another OS (Hyper-V Server in my case).

    Sorry - I can't help with this.

You don't get it, I don't want to solve it, cos I know it's unsolvable.

They put something in the system that blocks certain files from running. I suspected this would happen when I first saw DEP show up in operating systems, I think it was Xp sp 1. They now have expanded it to block any executable they wish.
