Hello,

Just recently my Intel RST service is not running and when I want to start the service, the process takes too long and then finally a windows appears stating Error 1053 something something message. The same goes to every service that I wanted to stop or restart, same error message appears. Running a service works fine though.

Btw, my Intel RST is always running but I don't know why it is now not running, it bothers me.

that's a Dot Net error, and that cannot be fixed

FIX: You receive an "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" error message when you stop or pause a managed Windows service

You can only do this:

Hit Windows Key + X and Open am Admin Command Prompt, then type in:

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Before you do it though, open control Panel to Programs/windows Features and make sure you have Dot Net 2 and 3 installed, just put a single click in the box, and the box will half-way fill, if it fills all the way you do not want that

Windows 8 used to install dot net 2 and 3 automatically, but 8.1 does not, you have to add it in.

Actually I just realized it is Dot Net 1.1, so you can download that from here:

Download Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 from Official Microsoft Download Center

I don't know if Dot Net 1.1 is included, but you need it, so you should download it. If it is missing, that explains the error 1053

Well, you shouldn't even be getting 1053's on Windows 8, it's strictly for Dot Net 1.1. It may have been left in your computer from an Upgrade. Did you upgrade to 8 from XP? XP would have had all Dot Nets installed.

That I don't know. I just bought this laptop 3 months ago and it is already Windows 8, touchscreen. Maybe it comes from a game installer that I installed?

So should I uninstall this Dot net 1.1 ?

If it is already in there, you may want to try to repair it. You'll have to determine what programs you have that will use dot net 1.1

Hm, now thats a good question, I know old programs use to use it. Maybe some Gadgets used it. I;ll have to look it up and see if I can find out, what Programs have used Dot Net 1.1

You can see if it is actually installed, open Windows and go to Microsoft .Net: There should be folders for 1.0 and 1.1, open those up and see if they are fully populated. If the 1.1 folder is fully populated (You'll see a 1033 folder if it is) then you should either totally remove Dot Net 1.1 or repair it. It should show up on your Installed Programs in Control Panel.

Ah, I found something: Those Multiplayer Online games like Lord of the Rings Online use Dot Net 1.1.

Usually those games if still around have updated to newer versions of Dot Net.

Which of these folder shall I look into? Because each folder has each version on it.

Looks like all you have is Dot Net 4.x - You would see folders for 1, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3,5 as well.

I have an idea, open Control Panel and go to Programs and Features, click on Features. At the very top you would see Dot Net 2.0-3.x - If it is not checked, just click on it once. It will put a square in there, with a white area around it. That means you are installing the basic things you need. Then hit "Apply" and let it install Dot Net 2.x to 3.x.

That may stop the errors, I'm guessing you ahve a program that runs at boot that needs some dot net, and it is not there, except for version 4.x.
