Store can not log in to my Live account after 8.1 upgrade

I have a long standing Live account, and my computer has been set as a trusted device. when I upgraded to W8 I was thrilled to be able to purchase apps for my computer and have many photo apps and art apps. I upgraded to 8.1 and now I can not log in to the store at all. I go through the process and at the last stop I get a screen telling me that there is another account on this PC using that account. I know this, it is me, on my account! I need to purchase something and i can not. I am afraid to even try and run something because I do not want to get locked out of my already purchased apps. What should I do to fix this? So far Microsoft has not responded to my request for help. I am trying to get a job done and really would like to use a particular app to do it. One I need to buy. Any thoughts on how to fix it?

    Hello copperscale,

Are you currently signed in to Windows 8.1 with this Microsoft account?

If you are, then check using the tutorial below to see what account is currently signed in to the Store.

Windows Store - Sign in with Different Microsoft Account in Windows 8

    Hope this helps for now,
    Shawn

You probably used a brand new MS account, you CAN use the same MS account on several computers, I'm doing it on 4 now.

You can do it through "Skydrive" - If you log into Skydrive with your regular MS account, it will shunt that info into the Store. You probably logged into a different skydive account, cos when I logged into Skydrive, after installing 8.1 with a Local Account Only, it changed my local account to an MS account. Which is a Skydrive account.

And this finally ends a 6 month old Argument I've been having With Shawn, see, I was right after all, it IS a Skydrive account.

But they are the same thing, just remember that Skydrive MEANS MS Account.

It's a SkyDrive account that uses a Microsoft account to sign in and sync with.

I must have been the only one to see that "Log In with Skydrive" when I was originally installing Windows 8, I m positive I saw it during Installation. A Later installation only said "Use an MS Account". I can't remember when I installed it, it was February or March. When I installed 8.1 I used a Local Account, I went in to activate the Skydrive, and it changed my Login to the MS account I use for Skydrive.

I thought MS was supposed to stop using the words "Skydrive", what happened with that?

The renaming of SkyDrive is still in the works, but no details out yet.

    How's it going copperscale?

Yes, there were some unresolved issues from the setup process and I have the same email address on the Admin account as on my user account. Microsoft had assigned my live account to the Admin so I could not use it for my every day account.

Ah, ok. I'm surprised it was able to have the same account used twice like that.

    Thank you for posting back.
