How do I remove this bar in the files manager?

It doesn't even seem to have a name. I tried disabling the "status bar", but that wasn't it (that was another bar that was just over this one).

It looks ugly and I want to get rid of it. I'm totally desperate (hence my nickname).

    Thanks.

Hello Desperate, and welcome to Eight Forums.

It's hard to say since you are using a custom skin, but you might see if it may be the Details pane.

    That was not it, unfortunately.

And I changed the theme to the default one just in case and It's still there. It seems to be a thing with windows in general, not just folders, as you can see above.

You might see if running a sfc /scannow command may help if the custom skin modified a system file that added this.

It IS "Show Status Bar" - got to get it from here:

And if it still shows, then it's as Shawn says.

I'd say the custom skin you have has modified a system file, and added it's status bar version to it.

Oooh... so how do I fix it? I did the sfc /scannow thing and after a reboot not only I still have the status bar (and yes, I disabled it in folder options), but it also completely messed up the theme (I guess it eliminated the patch required to install custom themes). I guess I'll have to do a clean install of Windows now, no problem.

So, anyway, It's probably the theme? Do you know how I could modify it so I can eliminate the status bar it imposes?
