Win8 error mess "you need windows Vista with SP1 ..."

Hi I'm try to install Office Starter 2010 on my machine running Windows 8


I keep getting an error message saying I need " windows vista with service pack 1 (SP1) or later" to install

Has any one seen this before?

Any possible solutions gratefully accepted

Office Starter isn't compatible with Windows 8.

Microsoft stopped shipping it to manufacturers before Windows 8 was released.

You COULD try installing it under compatibility mode , or my recommendation would be to install a free equivalent such as OpenOffice or Libreoffice , both of which support .docx etc files and also give you equivalents of powerpoint etc also.
