If I reset to factory will the programs/apps that came with the pc be wiped out to? Thanks.

No. When you reset to factory, it restores Windows back to how it was out of the box. :)

If you do a RESET your PC will be return as day one, using the OEM Recovery disks.

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

I personally DO NOT RECOMMEND using this METHOD above, as of the ERRORS you may receive below with the Microsoft Recovery USB Drive.You would be best off using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery DVD's or Recovery USB drive.

The Windows Recovery USB drive & Recovery Partition can be very problematic, I recommend you also make a Windows System Image.

look for a 3rd party ,Backup software, which fully supports Windows 8, uEFI, GPT & Secure Boot.
Which is signed by Microsoft.

On Windows website it says you can. You just have to reinstall 8.1 thru the store.



I have a Dell xps 8700. Yes I made the recovery disks. It came with a dvd that says drivers and utilities on it. Is that the same thing and if not what is it purpose? Thanks.

Thanks. I want to get rid of 8.1. My pc ran great with just 8. Now that I have upgraded to 8.1 it runs like junk. I am on the verge of just wiping out the hard drive and putting windows 7 on it.

Dell said all that I needed to do was go to Dell backup and recovery app and choose factory image and it will put the pc back like it came out of the box. I will give it a shot.
