    Removing "Lenovo Picks"

Is there any way to remove "Lenovo Picks" from the Windows store, besides using a new disc install?

I have the Lenovo Lynx, and this bothers me. I am not opposed to starting with a fest install, but that refresh option just leaves it in there.

    Thanks!

Edit: also running 8.1 the store.

Sounds like they have embedded that into the store somehow, you would have to do a total re-install from a non lenovo disk. I take it, they added it to the regular Store app? I'll see if I can find a way to remove extra "store" items. I'll check in later when I find out something.

Yes, its embedded and the second option past the first scrolling items. I don't have another disc, and from what I understand it won't activate unless I have another code for windows 8.

I dug around, but am at a loss.

    I found this:

PC Decrapifier: Remove Unwanted Programs from Branded PCs - AskVG

But it may not be able to get rid of that - Also, I am not sure about that program yet, it is supposed to remove branded apps from a PC.

If this thing is on the Start Screen, you may be able to remove it from there, but if it is in the store, you would have to get into the Store app and try to find it in there.

I can't even FIND the store app in the folder where all of the Sore APPs are, it must be in another location. If I can find it, maybe we can edit it manually to remove that item.

I found this article on Branding, maybe there is something in there, I'll go through it when I get home:

Corporate Identity / OEM Branding in Windows 8

I have seen that, on an Acer machine. Must be the exact same thing.

Did the system come with 8 or 8.1 - If you could acquire an install disk from somewhere, you could do a fresh install and that would be guaranteed gone. Your Recovery partition also will re-install 8, but it will put that back in.

The problem with using a fresh install disk, is that you will also lose all apps that control your Mouse, any special keys on the keyboard, and any DVD player programs that came with it.

You can try to find the system in the Lenovo support section, download all of the drivers related to it, then try to make a windows install disk.

If you have a folder or partition named ESD, that's the install medium, you can stick that on a disk or flash drive

It came with 8.. the only problem with using another install disc is that it won't activate windows without a new code. I have a ISO of windows 8.1, but the serial is embedded.

Its not a huge deal, just stupid you can't remove it. Its basically just ads in the store.

You could try using your original Windows 8 Key, and then you would have to call the 800 number for a phone activation. In my opinion, they released 8.1 way too soon, and because of this "No Install Disk" issue, it causes a lot of extra problems that are difficult to repair.

I loathe and despise all this branded crapola they stick in, usually it can all be removed, but with 8.1 it is difficult.

Well, you can pull it with Aida64, it'll read it from the OS. I know there is a trial version, don't know if that feature is in the trial but you can try it. Aida64 is like Speccy but it gives you a bit more usable info.
