How Can I Stop The PopUp Thumbnails From the Task Bar

The popup thumbnails of the open applications that jump up when you accidentally touch the Taskbar drive me crazy. Is it possible to suppress them?

Hello Jim, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You could use one of the options in the tutorial below to disable taskbar thumbnail previews.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks for the thought, but . . .

I tried Method One and there's no Disable Thumbnail check box in 7+ Taskbar Tweaker. See screenshot below.

I also tried Method Two. I used the registry edit utility. I don't know what it did but it didn't prevent the thumbnails from popping up.

Option Three appears to be a manual version of Option Two.

So when the first three options didn't work I gave up.

Your specs indicate you are running Windows 8.0. Is that correct?

Yes, I'm running Windows 8, not 8.1 yet.

OK, even though I am on 8.1, I just tested this tutorial method and the registry entry to delay the thumbnail popup works perfectly so I'm guessing that should work for you as well:

    Good luck.

You didn't mention in your initial post that you were using the 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, that might impact the function of the steps in the tutorial. I did notice in your screenshot of the app that there is a section called "hovering", I would choose the "nothing"option under that section and see if it accomplishes what you want.

Brink updated the instructions for 7+ and it seems to be working now.

I had uninstalled 7+ before trying the registry method.
