Energy Saving mode and anminations in win8

    Hi everybody,
I have few questions to ask you:
    • When I put windows 8 in energy saving mode, animations became much slower (for example: the app mail didn't show me the box the pointer was on immediately and it took so much time to open the email). When I changed to balanced, the problem disappeared. How can I change the energy saving mode in a way thatthe problem will disappear?
    • i have reinstalled windows yesterday. I asked a friend of mine to reinstall the dirivers because I'm not able to install them. The touchpas seems to not work correctly, but on my win7 (i have a dual-boot) it works perfectly. What have I to do?
    • A curiosity: where do the windows updates are saved before installing if I chose to install them manually? Will they be automatically deleted when I install them or I have to do something special?

Thanks a lot for your answers and sorry for my bad English.

Ps: I'm going to update windows 8 to the 8.1 version. Who have tried it can tell me if it is better (or at the same level) of windows 8?

Balanced is best, as you've found out. If you want to save energy, turn the computer off when you walk away from it for an extended length of time. No matter if you put the computer to sleep, hibernate, there is a constant power drain (I don't know how much). If you use fast boot, even when you turn the computer off, there's still a (probably minute) power drain. We pay for these conveniences by higher power usage. I usually leave mine on all day and turn it off at night. Set the power button to turn it off and you can just press the power button for on/off.

Oh, and by the way, it doesn't make a difference to your computer hardware wise if you turn it on and off or leave it running all the time. The biggest problem with leaving it on all the time is energy usage. The biggest problem with turning it off and on is that you have to poke a button to do it. Your choice.

Assuming this is a touch screen, I will tell you up front that I know nothing about touch except for my smartphone and my Kindle 8.9 HD and those drivers are already in there and I ain't agonna mess around with anything on either.

I would say, though, have your friend go to the manufacturer's site and download Windows 8 drivers for your touchpas (I'm assuming it's a touch monitor).

You didn't say why you're not able to install drivers, but if you succeeded in reinstalling Windows, I'm pretty sure you can install drivers . . . just go to the manufacturer's site and follow the instructions. It's usually pretty easy to navigate those sites.

Go to Control Panel and click on Windows Update. You will be presented with this screen:

Note that on my computer, I have "You're set to automatically download updates" which what you want to see. What this means is that the updates will automatically download to my computer, but will not install until I tell them to. Since I don't have any updates to install, I can't show you that. But if there were some updates, they would be listed.

To make Windows Update follow your instructions, click on "Change Settings" Click the down arrow and choose how you want your updates to be presented to your computer.

Note that mine is set to download and let me choose. I don't have a clue as to where Windows puts them, but since they're right there and will be until I make a decision, I don't care where they are.

Finally, if there's an update you absolutely don't want (Bing toolbar for me), right click on it and then click on "hide update"; it will disappear.

You got that right! I have to hide it again each time I get updates. I don't remember that happening in Win 7.

Thank you for the replies, but I haven't a touch screen monitor: I mean touchpad (touchpas was a typing error) the touch mouse in PCs. Mine has multi-touch capabilities and the problem is that it detects twofingers when I use only one. Have I to reinstall the driver?

    Thanks again.
