Video Clip Files (MOV Files) - Not Showing

I'm having problems where I can't see my video thumbnails on Windows 8.1 Preview, also - I don't know which ones I'm going to click at and play. Is there a way to solve this problem, so I can see my video thumbnails, just an icon with an white paper as an background of the icons.

The image below is the problem I'm having at the moment which I can't see the video thumbnails, just an icon with a white paper background:

The video thumbnails works alright in Windows 7 Home Premium that we used to have.

    Thankyou for reading!

I would try Quicktime Alternative if Quicktime is not already installed. If you already have Quicktime report back to take the next step.

I used to use Quicktime Alternative, thats a good solution if you dont want to keep iTunes in the system.

But VLC will play just about anything.

Yeah, but the video stutters when I open it - I want it to go smooth and working properly - it's annoying me!

    Hi there
I've been using VLC since it first appeared DONKEYS years ago and it's still IMO the best free multi-media player out there - and it also works as multi-media STREAMER server too if you want. -- can't imagine why video is stuttering at all unless you are reading from a poor network connection or the original file is encoded at very poor resolution -- try playing around with some of the settings in VLC and your graphics - like use hardware acceleration / decoding etc.

    Cheers

I don't think you can go wrong with Quicktime Alternative. I was enthusiastic about VLC until 1.0. Something got flaky on my HP machines after that. The window would just go away when touched. Very unstable. I like SPlayer Portable now for most things. If VLC works on your system then it's fine. I wasn't so lucky.

I find loads of stuff stutters under Windows - whatever edition, whatever player, including VLC, which is miles better than most. There's just too much going on in the background. If I am serious about watching something - I boot into LinuxMint - which I have installed with WUBI under Windows 8, and I have not tested it since I upgraded to Windows 8.1 - I wonder if it still runs?

Hello Guys, when I used to go to "recent places" from the favourites menu from file explorer it used to give me a list of the most recently opened files, now it gives me the folder of the file opened instead of the file. I recently upgraded to Win 8.1 from 8 so it might be a change made there. ...
