Well... I guess I can try "Hibernate" again...

... now that I have 8.1 installed. Never could get it to work properly with 8, it always seemed to "wake up" in the middle of the night, and I never figured out why....

Want some cheese with that whine?

Did 8 wake up always at the same time?

Do you use a laser mouse by any chance?

So, of course it still wakes itself up for no damn reason within a couple hours.

    Maybe this will fix it:

Power Options : Change Plan Settings : Change Advanced Power Settings : Sleep : Allow Wake Timers = disable

There is also a setting in Auto Maintenance to allow it to wake the computer:

    Control Panel\System and Security\Action Center\Automatic Maintenance

Turn it off, if this is off it will just do maintenance when the computer is next idle.

Ok. Auto maintenance was off, but wake timers was on. Switched it off, and we'll see tonight.
    Thanks.

Just kidding on the cheese and whine....

Any slight vibration with a laser mouse will wake the computer if it's set for it to.

Ok. You have things set, We'll see.

    Thanks anyway.

To wake it up myself, I need to press power button. Mouse does not seem to wake it up.

Lol! Sounds like you and your computer are "one with the universe".

I gotta ask > What exactly does this mean?

Have you checked for active waketimers? My apologies if this has already been suggested:
