I have a Dell Latitude E5530 using win 8. I've been away for about a month and have not signed in.
Today I signed-in and requested to update to the new windows 8.1 version. Upon completion and restart of my laptop,
I keep getting this warning box message. "ALPS driver has found IOCTL - error:320".
Click ok and message box goes away, but keeps displaying every attempt I log in.

How can I fix this problem?
Is there some new Alps driver I need to download?
Never had this problem before I applied 8.1 updates.

Thanks.
TC.

You should be able to go to the Dell Support site for this laptop and download the ALPS driver.

If you have updated to 8.1, there may not be an ALPS driver for it yet, try the one for Windows 8. This is for 8.1

If you go to Dell Support on your laptop, you can use the Auto Detect laptop, it will shunt you to the proper page to download drivers. If you have 8.1 it may give you a page with no drivers, in that case you will have to change the OS to Windows 8. But I just checked, they have 8.1 drivers.

Quick question.

There are 3 ALPS drivers i see in Task manager.

1. Apoint.exe Alps Pointing-device Driver
2. hidfind.exe Alps Pointing-device Driver
3. ApntEx.exe Alps Pointing-device Driver for Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista

Do I uninstall these 3 drivers before I install the 8.1 version you recommended?

Thanks.
TC.

Ah, the one you have is for the wrong OS - Just install the new version, and it will over-write the wrong version.
