Sorry I missed something at the beginning of the line, add this in CMD prompt using admin privilages

BUT......I have left the 2 sets of brackets empty to put your own two sets of codes in from your "event viewer error" they could be different to mine.

    reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search\DefaultExcludedPaths" /v "winrt://{}/" /t REG_SZ /d "winrt://{}/" /f

This will be 100% successful. I just tried it now.

Thanks heaps for your help Sayjimwoo.
However- despite having the exclusion, exactly as you've described, I was still getting a warning & a stuck SearchIndexer.exe- for a file that should have been excluded!

So here's what I ended up doing to fix my problem!

    Hi All,

I wanted to offer my solution for the problem, for any future reference.

    Thanks to this thread-

I found where my SearchIndexer.exe was stopping & throwing warnings.
However it continued to do so even with the exceptions added to the registry.

So, my fix. Tedious though it was.
I removed everything but 'Start Menu' & my Personal User folder from my Included Locations.
Rebuild Index. Index get stuck around 14,000 files.
Removed the User folder, Index completed.
Re-Added about half of the user folders, Index Completed.
Added the Downloads folder- Index got stuck again!

So I knew it was a file within my Downloads that was making the Indexer sit & spin its wheels.
I was pretty frustrated by this point- I could have dug down further to find more precisely what it was, but instead I moved or deleted everything that was currently in Downloads.
    Lo and Behold, Index Completed!

So- In essence- break down your 'Included Locations' until you find your problem file!

    Good Luck!

Errors in the Event Viewer are just something you gotta live with with Windows, from Windows 2000 to 8.1. If you got none, be happy with that, cos you'll get something and soon.

I've had totally fresh installs come up with errors, sometimes they can be fixed, sometimes not. Besides, I know which ones I have to really worry about, and I got none of those.

Also, there are plenty of errors that will pop up and MS has no information on the error number, there are hundreds like that.

Sorry for late response. My error did return, hence it also not being a fix for you. After a lot of research I found this to finally remove the error. It looks like you have solved it for yourself anyway.

My fix (the code may be different to yours) was to add this line to the registry using command prompt.
It was "PreventIndexingCertainPaths" which was the key to the fix -

    reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search\PreventIndexingCertainPaths" /v "winrt://{S-1-5-21-3841166914-161026619-2867130341-1001}/" /t REG_SZ /d "winrt://{S-1-5-21-3841166914-161026619-2867130341-1001}/" /f

The error never came back, indexing now ignores it.
