How get the old Windows 7/8 look back in Windows 8.1 Explorer? The idea of combining the folders "pictures, documents, downloads, music and videos" on top of the drives is totally stupid and redundant. What are the libraries then for??? I have several other libraries added and want them to be shown, so I have to enable libraries, but then I have the "default" libraries doubled now....

Yea, I didn't get that either. I was scratching my head on that one. But I'm just living with it. Adapt and roll with it I say. But I think it may have had a hand in deleting my Itunes music. Fortunately I had it backed up and the whole folder structure was still there on my Win7 install.

Perhaps you want to try this?

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorial...emove-navigation-pane-windows-8-explorer.html

There are other tutorials for removing SkyDrive and other customisations of the file explorer if you want in the same place.

No. You dont understand or didnt look at the picture/read the post correctly. I dont want to disable the libraries. I want of course have the libraries shown, because it is editable/you can add things to it. I want these stupid doubled six folders gone under "My Computer", which came with 8.1, and are redundant because you have them already in your libraries and mostly ALSO in your favorites. You cant even minimize them, because then all drives are minimized too like c:, d:, and so on. I want it to look like the picture I attached here.

In addition to the above posters reply, if you don't want to edit the registry yourself, Brink has provided some reg files in this tutorial:
http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/28025-pc-add-remove-folders-windows-8-1-a.html

Also, if following the Winaero tutorial and doing it manually, someone left the following comment on another site:

"On 64-bit systems you need to delete those keys from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace too, so that 32-bit programs don't show those folders either (in save/open dialogs for example)."
