charms bar and clock on desktop annoyance

I'm not sure where to post this....

On my laptop with WIndows 8.1, with Start8, and using the touchpad (and in the desktop mode) - while in Internet Explorer (or Firefox), if I move the cursor too far to the right, it brings up the charms bar on the right and a clock in the lower left corner. Very obtrusive. I know I can then click on the screen and make them go away, but is there anyway to disable them? I tried disabling the Corner Navigation in the PC settings, but that didn't help. Any ideas?

I am assuming you are using a touch pad on the laptop there are settings in that device for that too.

My laptop touchpad doesn't have that option.
I'm sure one of the member solved this by installing the latest driver from Synaptics, but I'm not sure whether you have Synaptics touchpad, if you have synaptics touchpad, get the latest driver from here and you will get that option.
