Will windows 8 run on 5120Mbit?

Hey i should maybe upgrade to windows 8, and the PC only have 512MB ram. I know the req is atleast 1GB RAM but i heard windows 8 only use 200mbit for some people. I am only gonna make words documents for school work, so nothing advanced. Thanks.

Your upgrade philosophy doesn't make sense. If you are only creating word docs for school, I would continue to use whatever you are using right now.

If you do want to make full use of Windows 8, 64bit and a minimum of 4GB is a logical choice.

Run the Windows 8 installer and it will tell you if it's compatible with your computer.

I have 32-bit Windows 8 on a laptop with 2GB and it's fine. You don't lose much by not having 64-bit if you want to run basic things like Word.

I've tried it on a laptop which only had 1GB, although some of that was used for graphics memory and not available to Windows. That was not a pleasant experience, so I really wouldn't recommebd Windows 8 with 512MB.

If Your Going To Run Windows 8 on 512MB of Ram it Will Be Unusable By Default, Make Sure You Set The Computer To Adjust Max Performance By Going To Control Panel\System and Security\System And By Clicking On Advanced System Settings on Your Left And Then Performance
