How to remove "Windows 8.1 ... Build 9600" watermark?

    Hello,

I just upgraded my legal copy of Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. I've also installed all the currently available updates. The problem I'm faced now is the watermark on my wallpaper near the clock (Bottom-right side of the desktop). It currently says: "Windows 8.1 SecureBoot isn't configured corrently Build 9600" .

I have to admit, I have disabled secure boot. I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about this in these forums, but let's just say I have another OS installed an my PC (I use GRUB to load the two Operating Systems)...

Are there any available solutions to fix the problem?

You have to either "be able/willing" to enable secure boot or wait for a workaround which may be forthcoming in the very near future. These is also hope that MS will finally provide a solution for this as well but don't hold your breath on the last one. Good luck.

But would enabling SecureBoot skip GRUB boot menu? If yes, that's not the solution for me...

You can boot Linux with SecureBoot. Several disto's have SecureBoot built-in, but if yours doesn't, you can always use the Linux Foundations SecureBoot Pre-Loader.

You've been able to do this for well over a year.

Seen that video hundreds of times, didnt really help me, theres no "ubuntu" option in my boot manager the only way I can get GRUB to load is shutting off secure boot.
