Computer won't start after Windows Update (Windows 8)

    As the title says.

I have around 44 Windows updates I need to install but after I've done that my computer won't launch to the desktop. My screen is all black and my keyboard and monitor are repeatedly turning off and on (blinking). To solve this I have to run the Windows restore thing and my computer works just fine, but no updates are installed.

I have no idea what can cause this to happen. I also do own a legit copy of Windows 8. The reason I want to install these updates is because I want to upgrade to Windows 8.1 and I can't do it without updating my system first.

Any ideas what can cause this error?

Here is a list of all the updates:

Try installing just one or two updates at a time and see how they go. Sometimes Windows doesn't like installing loads of updates at the same time and baulks.
At least you'll find out which one is causing the problems and you can then choose whether to install it or not.

Ahh never thought of that. Thank you it worked just fine. It was the stupid Internet Explorer updates that messed my computer up. In the future there will be no more IE updates

Strangely, IE stopped working properly on my Win 7 machine (had to click the link once, then again after failure) so I turned to Firefox, which suits my purposes fine; it works better than IE on a special passworded site that I visit regularly. Others use Chrome, (which I do have installed for checking HTML in all browsers) and like it better than IE or Firefox.

However, there's a caveat . . . when downloading betas from Microsoft, nothing seems to work except for IE. At least in my case. Sigh . . .

Glad to hear that you got things sorted. It can be very annoying for one update in a batch of 50 or so to fail and cause all the other updates in that batch to roll back. It wastes time at the very least.
Just doing a few at a time seems to ease the process (for Windows) although that too can be time consuming.
