    A few niggles...

    Hi there,

Installed 8.1 about a week ago and I'm fairly happy with it so far (after removing charms, going straight to desktop etc) however I have a few minor problems.

Firstly my windows keyboard shortcut key is not working (Logitech G15)

Secondly in power options there are no plans that I can change, if for example I try to create a power plan I get the message "Your power plan information is not available". Tried sfc etc but no problems are detected.

Finally it just seems slower in some respects vs win 7 x64 ultimate, especially booting up. SSDs are all trimmed and aligned and all drivers are installed.

    Any advice appreciated.

I would go on the Logitech website and look for firmware updates you make it compatible with Win8.1

Thank's for the reply, unfortunately I have the latest software and firmware versions for the keyboard, may need to wait until Logitech catches up with tin 8.1

On the plus side I have solved my power config problem, seems as though the names had disappeared from the Ids so I did the following:

    PS C:\Users\John> powercfg list

    Existing Power Schemes (* Active)
    -----------------------------------
Power Scheme GUID: 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e (balanced) *
    Power Scheme GUID: 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c
    Power Scheme GUID: a1841308-3541-4fab-bc81-f71556f20b4a

PS C:\Users\John> powercfg -changename 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c High performance
PS C:\Users\John> powercfg -changename a1841308-3541-4fab-bc81-f71556f20b4a Power Saver

    Edit:
Ok so it does add them back but unfortunately I cannot access the advanced settings for either plan.

Looking online it seems as though the AMD uninstaller causes this issue and I did run it a few days back so be warned, not sure if I can fix this now :/

At the top of the G15 Keyboard on the left hand side, you will notice the "MR" Key. Directly right of that key you will notice another Chrome Key. When you slide this key to the left it will activate Windows key mode and in the right hand position it is locked out. This is to prevent accidental activation of the Windows Key when you are playing games. Activation of this key can some times pull you out of game play.

    Well I'll eat my hat!

I have never moved that slider in all the time I have owned any version of vista or win 7 and it has always worked, in win 8.1 however it has to be slid to the left for the windows key to work, well spotted... I feel a bit silly for that one.

I had to do a repair install to get my power configs back as I did not want to spend half of my weekend messing around, it's my own fault for using the AMD uninstaller when it does not state anything over win 7 is supported.

Now all I need to do is get used to the 'enhanced' start button, aside from that it's just like running win 7 when the bloat is disabled/removed.

    Thanks for the keyboard pointer
