Newbie ask - ISO for Win8.1? Driver problems? Too stupid??

    Greetings.
My situation. I have a Windows 8 Pro installation working. I have a totally LEGAL cd-key (Upgrade Win 8 Pro from the time it was very cheap). I got an ISO of Windows 8.1 Pro x64 RTM Danish (I'm danish), but I can't install it with my CD-key.
I then got an "install" key from a tech-member, so I could install win8.1, but not activate it, I had to use my own legal key, I was told. Okay, that sounded really good to me. But it does not work!! I can install it, but when change my CD-key it says it is allright, but it can't activate Windows, not by Internet or by phone.

Okay. I then took the chance of upgrading my running (and activated) Windows 8 Pro via Windows Store. That took over 2 hours (windows running on an SSD), and gave me some driver problems. I had troubble with a canon printer (MG6150), a Logitech wheel (G25), but NOT with my logitech keyborad as many others!!, my Shark USB3 hub, but NOT onboard USB 3, and my graphic card MSI GTX770 Lightning.

I found a solution to the G25, I had to flash a new bios into my MSI GTX 770 Lightning!!!!, and I had to search some time to get my printer working. But I need some help to the USB 3 hub. Onboard USB3 is working very well except the ports can't supply enough power to my USB 3 2,5" Harddrives, USB sticks is running very well. My USB 3 hub has its own powersupply, but runs only in USB 2 mode!! In devicemanager it shows as "super Speed Hub (not functional)". In Windows 8 I did this trick to solve the poor USB 3 performance:
    USB3 - still missing a new Intel USB3 driver

I tried this in Windows 8.1 also, and I found this resault:
USB3 hub is working somewhat (giving lower transferspeeds in writing), and onboard USB 3 is slower with USB 3 sticks than with MS driver. So my next question is:

Is there a way to keep USB 3 perfrmance in onboard Intel Z77 chipset and install a driver to my USB 3 hub, so it will also work in Windows 8.1 Pro?

Or is Windows 7 the only OS to give max performance in USB 3 (onboard AND hubs!!)

Otherwice Windows 8.1 Pro seems like it is lightning fast (but ugly compared to win7), especially it seems like games at DX9 (Euro Truck Simulator 2 f.i.) is now running as fine in Win8.1 as in win7.

Maybe all the above is because I am too stupid to get it working, but after searching for solutions on printers, on USB 3 and on how to flash my GTX770 I think I have done what to be expected from a "normal home user".

Sorry for my English, English is not my first language, but I do it as good as I can.

I got an ISO of Windows 8.1 Pro x64 RTM Danish
If you have the TechNet key and you know it is authentic, and you have a legitimate Win 8 key, then follow this procedure and it will work because it worked for me under the exact same circumstances:

How to: Activate your Windows 8.1 RTM using legit Windows 8 key [Tutorial]

Good luck and I hope this helps.

That did not do it. Maybe because my Windows 8.1 RTM is a Danish version?
After I keyed in the install-id, and after a pause, the "tape-man" returned and said, that my CD-key could not be activated.
As I don't want my CD-key to be blacklisted, I only tried this once.

Ok then, its a no-go on the Danish but the English activation worked perfectly.

Or my CD-key has been used too many times, or I made a mistake.

On a friends PC we have just tried with the same Danish ISO and with his Windows 8 Pro Upgrade CD-key, and it was a success!!!

I might want to try again on my own PC later on

I'm glad you did a retest and it worked elsewhere. Quite honestly, I was tempted to challenge you on your first attempt but I thought it better no to do so because of your blacklist concern. Anyway, thanks for the follow up post that confirms it can be done if all is well.
