Solved How to remove ENG from taskbar

Hi,
Just upgraded to 8.1, and now I have an annoying ENG in the task bar.
I went through the tutorial on this page and it didn't seem to work.
So annoying!
Any ideas on how to fix?

Hello Mitchell,

You normally see the language bar whenever you add another language other than the default one that Windows was installed with. This gives you the option to be able to switch between using the added keyboard and/or display languages.

In addition to what was posted above, if you remove all languages other than your default display language, then it should remove the language bar as well.

In the "Advanced Settings" window that's shown in step 8 of the tutorial, tick the "Use the desktop language bar when it's available" checkbox. Next, click on the "Options" link. The "Text Services and Input Languages" window that's shown in step 6 will appear. Click on the "Hidden" radiobutton. Click on OK. Click on Save. Close the window that's shown in step 5.
