Samsung N150+ Can't Change Brightness

Why
Obviously there is no doubt that the n150+ or any Samsung note/netbook have had problems with not being able to control their devices brightness on Windows 7. This is because any driver after the OEM driver would change a particular number in the registry(regedit)

There were two fixes to this problem in WIndows 7. The simple way was to install the original VGA driver. The other was to change a specific number to 84 in the registries.

I have tried both and still can't adjust brightness with the fn keys. I've installed Easy Display Manager which is the software required to use fn key functions. Sound works automatically with or without the software.

I'm wondering why I can't get this to work.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Just wanted to add that I have the same problem, also tried both fixes for Windows 7 and am running the Consumer Preview version of Windows 8.

I've finally found a solution:

run regedit as admin and edit dword key "FeatureTestControl" in

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000]

Set value as "FFFF" (without quotes).

Tested on Samsung N150 with Windows 8.1 update 1 after installing Samsung Easy Display Manager and Intel drivers version 8.15.10.2567 (both found on Samsung support site).

P.S.

It seems that setting the key as "FFFF" prevents the screen from turning on after leaving standby mode. I tried setting "FFFE" and that fixed both problems.

Thank you!
It also works with FFFE value on Samsung NF-310 with Windows 8 Intel GMA 3150 default driver.

Windows 8 brightness control doesn't work very well, but Easy Display Manager works perfectly.

Tested on Samsung NF-310 Windows 7 installation updated to Windows 8.1 update 1

Update
This trick it also works on Windows 10!!!

Supp
I just formatted my girlfriend's Samsung N150 JA07UK and I've been struggling with drivers for couple hours. The screen went really dark when I've installed display driver (INTEL GMA 3150) so tried messing with registry, device manager, etc.
Nothing worked and I dunno if I'm that dumb or smth but I just randomly fixed it by installing Samsung Battery Manager from official Samsung site... using Win XP SP3 btw. not sure if this works on 7/8. Hope it might help some1 someday, cheers.
and sorry for my english, I'm a native speaker.
