Just want to share this in order to help some other hapless long-time Windows user with Windows 8:
The Mahjong app wasn't working right. So I figured I should uninstall and reinstall the app. I had to look that up because I'm not a Windows 8 wiz yet. All the tutorials said the same thing: right-click or swipe-down the app and click the Uninstall icon in the options bar.
My problem was it wasn't there. "Unpin from Start", "Smaller", and "Turn live tile off" were the only choices on the left, and "All apps" was the only one on the right. Where was the Uninstall icon??
I have the plain vanilla Windows 8 so it wasn't a Group Policy thing. To make a long story short, I was following a thread and someone mentioned clearing the App Store cache in order to solve another issue and by golly, that worked!
So if your Uninstall icon is missing, fix it by pressing Windows-R, typing in WSReset.exe in the Run command, and clicking OK. After it tells you the cache has been cleared, you should be fine.
