When will you upgrade to 8.1?

Just curious when you plan to upgrade? While I have a suspected bug in the way IE10 works with Win8, it is only a minor annoyance. I'm thinking of waiting until a few updates are done to fix the new bugs that I'm sure it will contain.

I will wait a while myself to do the upgrade, since Windows 8 works fine and there is no big hurry.

I voted in a month or so, but that has a catch. I currently run W7 and are pretty happy with that, everything works pretty well. I am not a feature or performance hunter, as perhaps others may be, but I do of course recognize new useful stuff and adapt to them, in time.

I'll likely upgrade my work laptop to it almost immediately as a test to see what to expect with others.

At home...I guess I will have to upgrade to 8 first...I'm still happily on 7 there.

I will be getting the pro 64-bit oem version. I'm currently running 7 pro but after watching & reading several reviews on 8.1 I will be making the switch before this year is out.

If they release an ISO for fresh install I'll update immediately. If I have to update via the Store, I'll wait and see how others are doing first. If it isn't going so well I'll wait until all the bugs are worked out. I'm not going through the torture.

Edit: I was on my phone using the 8F app, so I didn't know this was a poll. I'll have to vote "or so". I don't think it'll take a month to work out the bugs if it gets to that.

My w8 pc's behave very well, will definitely wait for a while after the 8.1 release before doing anything (first spend some time gathering info from forums and articles).

Windows 8.1 will be available at 6AM on Oct 17 my local time. I am retired and will still be sleeping so will wait until after Breakfast or maybe Lunch. I will NOT drag my butt out of bed at 6AM for just a software update.

I have 8 running without issue on my laptop and a netbook. I'm in no rush to move to 8.1 since there is no compelling reason to do so. The only feature of 8.1 that I am looking forward to is the ability to boot direct to the desktop.

Retired in 2015 after working in the tech industry for 41 years. First 10 years as a Technician, the rest as a programmer/software engineer. After 1 year of retirement, I was bored so went back to work as a Robotic Process Automation Consultant. Retired for 3rd (and final) time in 2019.
overall 8.1 runs better than 8. There are a lot more reasons than just a boot to desktop option that comes along with 8.1.
I don't think they are totally listed, or maybe hard to find. But, I will tell you, overall, 8 is nice, but 8.1 is an even nicer improvement.

I plan to never, at least not on my machines as they are now. When it comes out, I'll install it to some new machines and see how it goes, I never really expected to like 8 as much as I do, but I don't like the 8.1 preview at all. I probably would not have liked the 8 Preview either so I'll just see how it goes. I don't expect that I'll be forced to upgrade to 8.1

Well... For one thing, it's got even more paranoid oversecurity than 8, I can manage 8 but 8.1 takes me longer to set it all up.

It's actually the Preview I hate, if the real thing is better I may even use it. But as far as the preview goes, I hate the dorky Vista style boot animation.

I didn't put my main reason for not wanting to install it yet - I simply don't know enough about 8 yet! I thought I had a good handle on it until last week, there has been a flurry of new problems posted that have my brain churning in a cesspool.

I know what I have to do to keep my systems running, but some of these new complaints, the regular solutions are not working where they worked before. I think the biggest problem with 8 is in it's new Boot GUI which requires a rocket science background to maneuvre. If that is better in 8.1 then I certainly MAY start using it when it comes out. But I don't want it until I have an Install Disk in my hands. I think that is the thing I dislike the most, I can repair well enough using the Preview ISO, but there will not BE an ISO for the release of 8.1 and several people here in communicating with MS are not getting straight answers about this.
