Hello!
My laptop is powered by an intel core i7 640m processor. I'm wishing to upgrade my system to windows 8 and i'v found, processor should be support PAE, NX, and SSE2 in windows 8 requirements page. In processor info section, PAE value is displayed as 36-bit and no any info about NX and SSE2  where can I find those information? or please tell me that the i7 640m processor supports those features or not and is it windows 8 ready?

Thanks in advance before. :)

Any Core i7 will support those things. However, you can always download CPU-Z and it will tell you what features your CPU supports.

Another options is to look here:

Intel Core i7-640M Mobile processor - CP80617004152AE

It doesn't say PAE, but you can rely on any 64 bit CPU supporting PAE.

Thank you very much for the immediate reply. I have a little hazard because my processor is first generation one. BTW where are those things located in CPU-Z ? I couldn't find em.

Again, if it says EM64T then it's guaranteed to have PAE. CPU-Z should say right on the main page what versions of SSE are supported. NX is a little trickier, as this can be enabled and disabled in your BIOS, but the CPU still has to support it. If you have VT extensions (VT-x, VT-d) then you certainly have NX support. Again, the page I sent you to mentions NX and SSE specifically.

As you're upgrading to Windows 8, I suggest using the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant to check out your PC.
http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/11885-windows-8-upgrade-assistant-download-run.html

It will check if the processor has the right features (although I go along with Mystere and I don't think you have much to worry about processor-wise with an i7), and also look for other conflicts in software and hardware. It's not 100% foolproof, but it should give a good guide.

Tip: download the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant now, as I'm not sure whether Microsoft will "pull" it from their website in a week's time when Windows 8.1 is available.

Piriform "Speccy" should show you all of the features of your CPU. There used to be a free program "Everest" but it was changed to a paid program, and I don't think there are any free versions of it, but Speccy should show you want you need to know. Ah, yes, "CPU-Z" should do it too, there are several property sheets that should show some info. You have to squint to look through them all.
