Hello, I have recently began to have problems with Windows 8 not letting me ZIP/COMPRESS Files.

I can't find an answer anywhere, I'd really appreciate it if someone gave me a solution without having to download a 3rd party zipper.

There is a way to disable ZIP folders and Files going back to Windows 7, maybe Vista. I never do this. I'll have to look up how this can be disabled/Enabled. in the meantime, try downloading WinRAR and using that until we can get this fixed:

WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files

Hello Jcwisgod,

As a test, see if downloading and merging the .reg file for the listed ZIP option in the tutorial below may be able to help. It will restore the default associations for it.

Hope this helps, :)

It didn't work for me, here is what it is still doing: Screenshot by Lightshot. Here is how it used to be: Screenshot by Lightshot.

I don't understand why it has suddenly decided to do that.
