picture file will not close

I take a screenshot, go to pictures folder and open the picture(screenshot).
I see the picture and then try to close it.
I can't close it !! Why ?

Which application does the picture open with? What happens when you try and close it?

I suspect it is being opened in the Photos app which is the default picture viewing app in Win 8.

Try moving the mouse pointer to the top of the screen then click and drag the photo down to the bottom of the screen to close the app.
Instead of double-clicking on the a picture to open it next time, try right-clicking and select Open with -> then "Choose default program..." and then choose the program you wish to open your pictures in the future.

You mean, you see the picture in Explorer, inside the folder, or from within an App like Paint or Preview?

If it is in Explorer, you have have the Icon View settings set too high, try reducing them to medium size.
