Hi everyone
I'm quite satisfied after some exhaustive testing that W8.1 is definitely worthwhile upgrade from both W8 (and W7 - provided you can manage without the Start menu in W7).

Everything I've tried works without a problem - including complex apps like Photoshop CS6 and VMware player / workstation.

TWO issues remain - one - SKY GO (TV media streaming service I use a lot for LIVE SPORTS - particularly UK Football) doesn't work with IE11 and the latest version of Silverlight - solution - use CHROME BROWSER for this application - works perfectly - and two - if you use one of those extra languages not included in the 36 languages in the current language pack then you are out of luck - the windows 8 ones won't work.

So I can't see any particular reason for W8 users NOT to upgrade - especially as it's free and for anybody using W7 thinking about an upgrade - go direct to W8.1 - don't waste your time with W8.

I suspect the languages will be available in due course.

Cheers
jimbo

I found bridged networking in VirtualBox caused BSOD on resuming from sleep. So did Cisco AnyNet but it isn't even supported on Win 8 so can't really complain about that.

File history excluding SkyDrive is irritating but other than that I agree. Much better than 8 for me.
