Cursor freezes when I log into my non guest account

I had this problem before where, when a pet rabbit (I admit that was a bad decision) would walk or sit on the computer or keyboard, not for a long time, and as the result the mousepad/cursor would stop working. Even a plugged in mouse wouldn't help. I had it repaired and the person who fixed it said it was a setting. Problem is, same rabbit same problem, and now my cursor does it again. I can turn it on and it will move and click, same with my guest account, but then after a while it'll freeze and not do a thing. it's very frustrating. where's the setting?

I don't know, I can't think of any Keyboard settings, other than Languages.

I don't think your repair person was correct, try a brand new Mouse and Keyboard. Is this a laptop? Try an external KB/Mouse anyway.

Open the Control Panel (Press Windows Key and start typing Control Panel) and click on Keyboard. From there, you can go into Settings. I have a Logitech Wave wireless mouse and keyboard, and there are quite a few things I can change. Depending on which brand of keyboard, you may find what you need.

BTW, while you're in the Control Panel, look around. There are lots and lots of things you can customize from there.

She didn't say she couldn't log in;

"I can turn it on and it will move and click, same with my guest account, but then after a while it'll freeze and not do a thing."

Which tells me she can log in, things will be OK for awhile and 'after a while' things will freeze up. So, yeah, I'm thinking she can at least log in.

Yes, but it seems when I click any kind of internet service (IE, Google Chrome etc) it'll freeze if i'm in the desktop or otherwise. I'm using a guest account and the mousepad and cursor are working fine, but on the other account, no.

Btw, it's a laptop, so the mousepad/keyboard aren't wireless or however it is, but it's just a laptop.

Thank you for the replies.

Even so, if you can get to the Control Panel, both accounts use the same keyboard/mouse. I'm not saying it will solve your problem, but if it's a setting you may have a shot at it.

You don't actually need the mouse pad to get to the Control Panel; just press the Windows Key and start typing Control Panel and it will show up on the left side. Hit Enter and you should be in the CP. Now, hit the Down Arrow to get to the line the mouse is on, and then hit the Right Arrow to get to the Mouse and hit Enter. And, at this point, the Arrow Keys quit working. Blah!

AHA! I figured it out! To move around in the popup box for your mouse, hit the Tab key. To move to different tabs on top of the popup, hit CTRL+Tab. It's a pain, though.

OK, do you have a wired USB mouse you can plug in? Or, do you have a family member or friend who'll lend you one? Better yet, with that bunny, you might just want to buy an el cheapo wired mouse for just this emergency. Just plug it into one of the USB ports and you should be in business. First thing would be to turn off the built-in mouse, because they'll both try to work.

I have a wireless mouse for both of my laptops; I really hate trying to use that built-in jobbie that calls itself a mouse.

BTW, my grandson has a bunny named BunJovi, of all things. Her name was BonJovi until daughter took her to be neutered and found out he was a she. :what:

For everyone's sanity, I'd close the lid on that laptop when it's not in actual use.

Is it possible you've picked up a virus? I'd do a virus check too.

That may be the case, start by checking for rootkits, use these programs one at a time (just copy them exactly how I have them spelled and google them, you'll find them immediately):

TDSSKILLER

Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit

Eset Sirefef Removal Tool

and

GMER

Run all of those as well as a full system virus scan, see if you have something. It may be Sirefef, there has been a lot of Sirefef around lately, that and Solimba.

Hi - I'm not sure if this will fix your problem or not, but I was cleaning my laptop screen and the keyboard as well, only to turn on the Lenovo G530 and have it act like I had no mouse. After some troubleshooting (& checking out some of the responses on this Forum), I realized that **my** problem was that I'd somehow managed to turn OFF the touch pad. So, once I re-enabled the touch pad/disabled it (as a test), my laptop cursor and touchpad both work fine.

Still trying to figure out how the touch pad got turned off in the first place when the machine was (what I thought was) completely off! Oh, well, maybe it'll work for you. I'm sorry that I don't know enough about your keyboard/machine to know if you can click one button to turn your "sensitive" (for those of you who mentioned that you have that), or not-as-sensitive touch pads, it maybe this simple! My 2 cents. Just tryin'... to help. :)
