Don't know where to put this.....We just got a new computer- Lenovo All-in-one- and I thought I had read that with Windows 8 you could look at 2 pages side by side. How do I do this?

Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about Metro apps? If so, you can have one app snapped to the side of another in Windows 8, but only if the resolution of your screen is high enough to support it. I believe the minimum resolution is 1,366 x 768.

To snap an app to one side, move the mouse pointer to the top of the screen until it turns into a hand, left-click and hold the button down, then drag the app to one side or the other and let go. You can then open another app alongside it, or you can have a Metro app snapped to one side of a desktop app (and vice versa).

Another way to do it is, if you move the mouse to the very top-left corner of the screen, then move it down, it will open a list of any apps that are open. You can then right-click on one and choose to snap it to the left or right.

Hope that helps.

No problem!

When you get the Windows 8.1 update, it improves this functionality as you can snap more than 2 items side by side (again, depending on screen resolution), plus you can resize each app to your liking, rather than the snapped app being a set width.

If you're using a desktop app, you can just drag the desktop app to the left or right edge and it will automatically "snap" the window to the left or right half of the screen. Unless you have multiple monitors, in which case it will only do it on an edge that does not join two monitors. You can also use Alt-Left-Arrow or Alt-Right-Arrow to do this.

Here's another tip if you have Windows 8.1: -

If you have 2 or more apps snapped side by side, you can move the mouse pointer to the top of the screen so it turns into a hand, double-click, and whatever app the mouse pointer is on will go full screen. If you then move the mouse pointer back to the top again and double-click, you'll go back to your split view with the other apps. So you can easily switch between split screen and full screen views of any of the apps you have snapped.
