Well I scheduled a chkdsk as I restarted my computer so it's just running. Any way I can disable an on-boot chkdsk somehow?

I don't think so, it's the Automatic Diagnosis you have to disable, I've tried disabling that, but I could not figure out how. If your drives are in good condition, it won't run.

What yo can do, is change your Boot GUI to Legacy mode, it's the BCDedit command.

Startup Options - Enable or Disable in Windows 8

Run this command as administrator (Admin Command Prompt):

    bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy

That will set Windows 8 to boot like 7, and then yu can choose your boot options or Safe Mode right from there, instead of running through the hoops Microsoft has set.
