Solved Laptop keeps jumping from desktop to interface

Hey all,

I've got this problem with my new laptop, where if I do something with the touchpad (I'm not sure what the exact movement is, but it keeps happening when I'm trying to select things), Windows 8 will jump into the new interface screen.

Is there any way to turn this function off? I've got a button on the keyboard to switch to the interface, so I don't need this particular touchpad function, and it's more of a hindrance than a help.

Probably some "Gesture" that was setup with your laptop by manufacturer.

This drove me crazy too - it happens when you slide your finger from off the edge of the trackpad onto the trackpad, from left or right. I am left handed so it was mostly happening on the left side of the trackpad. They may be handy to some, but to me they were designed to add additional unwelcome mystery to an already mysterious OS.

I was able to disable these swipes in the trackpad settings under mouse settings in the control panel. There may be other ways, google "disable windows 8 edge swipes".

The edge swipes can be a pain on a touch pad versus a touch screen. I turned them off in the Smart Gestures utility on my ASUS laptop.

Thanks guys, I've disabled edge swipes and that seems to have fixed it. The laptop's an Asus S200E. I'm a lefty, so it seems I kept doing a gesture that the system wasn't expecting.

I did it all the time. I touch the laptop and slide my finger over until I feel the touch pad. I'm right handed so I kept getting the charms bar. The hot corners still work so you can still get those menus that way.
