Special Start-up functions not working.

Hi,

I would like to know if the following is working on W8 ?

Charms / Setting / PCsetting Changes/ General / Advanced start-up options / Problem Solving / Advanced Options / Start-up Setting and Start up

I can't activated any function out of the choices 1...9 neither by numbers nor by the function keys.

The keyboard is working fine and in other situaties all functions are working properly.

If it is a general problem is there a solution for it?

If not a general problem anybody heard about this problem on laptops (mine is an ACER Aspire S7-391)

Regards
RitaHubert

FYI, My function keys do work on the screen in question. I am able to select the options using f1-f9 and also the f10 option. Good luck.

Hi rita,

Good observation on your part. However, I have multiple machines and I actually did the test on a Win 8.0 desktop to compare apples-to-apples. Sorry I didn't make that clear in my response. Cheers!

I'm sorry, actually my system just goes to General-Advanced Startup and then Restart.

[DEL]You might try opening an Administrative Command Prompt and typing reagentc /info and post back the results.

To repair some of these situations, it is recommended to use reagentc /disable and then reagentc /enable. This will normally work if you system had been set up previously.

If you get a chance you can type the command below and attach the resulting text file.

bcdedit /enum all > %userprofile%\Desktop\bcdtext.txt[/DEL]

Hi,
Thanks for the further help.

I runned it a few days ago and some corruptios were found.

To be sure i runned it again and everthing was fine.

Meanwhile i am looking further and i am getting a feeling that it my be related to the (Bios ).
On my Acer Aspire S7-391 i have version 2.13 and 2.17 is available...?

Could there be a difference between W8 (which i have) and W8 - pro?

Regards
