creating shortcut on special file to open with app?

    So the idea is.
i want to have an icon(shortcut) on my start screen that opens a rom file with the emulator with just one click. Is that possible? This way I could have every single game(rom) on the start screen to choose from instead of going to desktop, open the emulator and select(search ) the rom.

    Welcome to Windows EightForums, Motawa.

I think this will work for you. The tutorial does say all files.

"Pin to Start" Files in Windows 8

Just to let you know the terminology > They are called tiles or live tiles on the Start Screen. The term icons still refer to the desktop.

Can I change the icons in modern menu? Lets say I want to have the specific game cover for each file.

    It works good.
Takes a little getting used to.
    Pretty easy to use.

Did the "Pin to Start" for Context Menu work for you? I'd just like to know if it works for ROM files.

Here is the problem. If I choose to open a .iso always with let's say ppsspp it does. But if I want to open another iOS with a psx emulator It still opens with ppsspp. So is there a way to open only ONE SPECIFIC file with a specific program (and not ALL .iso)?

and oblytile doesn't work ether. Logged in as administrator and opened with admin but the new tile doesn't show a picture(only blue color)

The Problem with ISO files is that many different programs will vie for total control over them, including the native File Explorer. Ultraiso, Magic Disk, Daemon Tools, etc all want to be the default opener for ISO. Even WinRAR will want to open IOSs.

If you are not using File Explorer to mount ISO images, you can tell the program you want to be the default Program for ISO, by right clicking on it, then choosing "Open With" and scroll all the way down to the bottom of the list of programs it shows, it will say "More Options" Click that, and then it will change to "Find another program on this PC" - Then you can choose the program you want, what is it, an Emulator? Tell that to be the default program.

If it ever happens that you need to open an ISO image with a different program, the other choices will still be there if you right click and choose "Open With"
