Solved "Administrator permission to delete folder"

Hello,

I have searched extensively for a solution to my problem and everything I have found thus far simply shows me how to setup permissions to modify files. I apologize in advance if this is not the proper place or etiquette for posting.

I have a game file that I have deleted/modified many, many times with no problem and now it seems I don't have permission to do so.

I used information from http://www.eightforums.com/tutorial...le-folder-drive-registry-key-windows-8-a.html to add the convenient "Take Ownership" option for files and I have ownership of the file in question.

It shows that I have "Full Control" over the file.

But when I try to delete the file I get:

When I click "Try Again" I get:

Any idea why I lost permission to do this all of the sudden and how do I make sure it doesn't happen again?

Thanks in advance!

First this is a common problem in any windows OS and for some reason it just happens. Now have you downloaded a little program called "Take Ownership?" If not go into the tutorials section of the eight forums and get a copy of that little bugger and run it (A MUST HAVE). If you cannot find it here then use "Google, or Bing (your choice). . . .Good luck.

BTW, "Welcome to the Eight Forums." . . .

Thanks for the quick response, Lee. I did get the "Take Ownership" registry tweak, and included a screenshot of it. I also included a screenshot showing I have "Full Control" of the file. It still won't let me delete it :(

I'm not sure if my screenshots are showing up. I have ownership of the file, so ownership isn't the problem. The "take ownership" registry change I installed came from Brink who is an Admin on here and it worked to change the ownership, although doing it manually was just as simple. I just thought having the take ownership option might help brute force what ever was keeping me from deleting the file into recognizing I have permission to do so.

I actually just uninstalled the entire program and re-installed it and now I don't have a problem modifying that particular file anymore. The crazy thing is, it was ONLY that file. I could do anything I wanted to any of the other files.

When you say "base windows admin account" are you meaning "Safe Mode"? I haven't used Windows since the mid 90's so there is A LOT I need to catch up on. Not trying to start a debate, but I am pretty computer illiterate from using a Mac for almost 20 years lol. It really does just work but they're just too darned expensive anymore :(

I guess since the problem doesn't exist anymore, I will mark this as solved. Just hope it doesn't happen again!
