So.. something I just noticed with 8.1, you can actually run Metro apps on multiple screens now. Including split-screening each one. I have three monitors, and found I could drag metro apps to each screen and they would stay there, and run.
On top of that, Metro apps no longer appear on whatever screen the start page happens to be opened on.
Of course, everyone knows you can now have arbitrary split screening as well.
So I have 3 monitors, and I can have 6 Metro apps open in various sizes, or 5 metro apps and a desktop, or even 3 desktops and 3 metro apps, or 1 metro app and 2 desktops, or pretty much any combination...
Not that this is something all that amazing... it's what should have been the case in Windows 8, but i'm amazed I haven't seen anyone mention this yet in any reviews or commentary.
Wow, just discovered you do more than 2 apps (including desktop) on a screen as well... although it's not easy to figure out how to do this without touch, but here's an example:
