I tried the F-8 code & it worked.
Reverted back to UEFI though.-- F-12 for options

    Hi,
    Thanks for your information.

Is it possible to perform also the following:
charms / pcsetting/ general / advanced start-up options / problem solving / advanced options / start-up setting and start up

As you probably know one can make there a choise ...but the keyboard don't react even not on the enter key to continu immediately.

    After a time-out it is shut-down.

That information is very important to me because that would mean that there is a problem with my laptop.
Can you maybe also mention if you are using W8 or W8.1

    Regards

    Windows 8.1

Hi. Message for Rita especially. I have an acer aspire s7 392 ssd etc and run Windows 8.1. Yesterday an automatic windows update took place and since then after entering my username/password my screen just flashes with the desktop background image - the laptop gets hot, the CPU goes into overdrive and the only thing I can do is go into task manager or switch off. I've read a few comments about this problem and it is suggested that it is the graphics driver than is playing up and I need to reinstall. The only way to do this is to enter safe mode - but I can't do this with the F8 key or fn F8 or shift F8. Can you or anyone else of course advise. Thank you. Catherine

If you install WinAero: Boot UI Tuner

You will automatically get the Startup settings as shown in the post above.
    When you restart.
