I have Windows 8 pro with media center and everytime I insert a DVD, I want to play it with Windows Media Player, NOT Media Center. But it doesn't even provide me with the option to open it with media player. Which is getting very annoying because I can not stand Media Center anymore. Unlike in the Windows 7 where in autorun it used to provide the browse option to choose any other source to open a file with. Here it doesn't do so. I have tried a few options but they were of no help. 1. I tried to change AutoPlay settings by navigating to Control Panel --> Programs --> Default Programs --> Change AutoPlay Settings. But it doesn't show windows media player as an option to play the video file from a DVD. HOWEVER it is available for any Audio file from a DVD source. 2. I tried to disable Media Center Feature from Programs and Features. But no luck. Both options have failed. I don't know what to do. I do not want to use Media Center to play video from my DVD. Any help would be appreciated.
Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro don't come with DVD movie playback capability. You'll need to have Windows Media Center or a 3rd party program or app (from Store) installed to do so now instead. That's why it will not work with Windows Media Player anymore.
