o I got a brand new desktop about 2 weeks ago and just got this error when booting:
''Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Series (9/19/11). PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, check cable. PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM. Reboot & select proper boot device . . . "
Because of the Family Controller part I figured it might have something to do with my controller plugged in, so I unplugged both my Xbox360 charging kit and the wireless receiver and rebooted.
Then it said something along the lines of : ''Windows failed to boot, Please enter the Windows installation disc and re-start the computer then click Repair computer''
I was baffled and in shock that my new PC was already failing me so I just stood there and looked at the screen for about a minute, and then windows 8 finally just booted by itself without me even having to re-start the computer.
Now what I'm wondering is if it was really the USBs plugged in messing with the booting, or if there is actually something wrong with my PC? I'd like to know ASAP while it's on warranty. I tried looking up that particular error online and people seemed to say it might have been a hard drive failure...
Thanks!
EDIT : There is definitely something wrong, now it seems everything I boot/restart it shows the message about Windows failing to boot (not the first one but the second, telling me steps to ''Repair computer''....) It stays on the error page for about 30 seconds and THEN boots up normally....it used to boot totally in about 3 seconds yesterday, what is wrong?
EDIT2 : I tried Repairing problems via the Advanced Startup options of Windows 8 and it says :
An unexpected I/O error has occurred.
Error code: 0xc000000e9
This problem can happen when a removable storage device is removed while it's in use or failing. Properly connecting any removable storage device and restarting your PC may fix this problem.
The thing is, there is no removable storage device?
