Solved Alt+F4 not working

Ctrl+F4 normally closes the current window only and still works fine.

Alt+F4 normally closes all windows but does not work anymore. Instead it just activates the URL dropdown like I pressed F4 without the Alt key. Screenshot (118).png

8 32-bit not pro

I press Alt+F4 & it only closes the active window.
Ctrl+F4 closes ALL windows.
8 Pro. 64 bit.

You should have added 95 to your sig.
It was a pain in the butt. :)

Maybe so.

Back to the issue of neither Alt key working. Nothing Alt+ works. Not even Alt+155 on numeric keypad.

Laptop or desktop?

Could be a physically sticky key switch - if it's a desktop keyboard I'd shake it around a bit; less advisable on a laptop.

Also, try a Restart , or even better a full Shutdown - not the normal default Windows 8 Fast Shutdown but a proper one. Close your apps and save your files first though as it's a bit abrupt!:

(The Windows default Fast Shutdown is really just a form of Hibernate so hardware issues like keyboards aren't cleared in the way they would be if you shutdown and restarted earlier Windows versions.)

been doing that for few days now. could try a different keyboard when someone gets back to reach one for me.
in the meantime, I think I'll download randyrants sharpkeys 3.5 to see if I can reprogram a different key as Alt
