Hello everyone this is my first time (i think) posting on the eightforums as i normally use sevenforums. However, I recently upgraded a family members HP G70-111EA to windows 8 from Vista. It all seemed fine whilst it was at my house and I installed antivirus, Web browser, etc (It was a clean install) but now we get a phone call saying that the screen works until the laptop is shut and it goes into hibernation, then when you wake it up the lights come on but the screen just acts as if the laptop is still asleep and does nothing. What can I do? And yes I ran the compatibility checker for the laptop and let it tell me if it was able to run, and it seemed fine when I was using it. Please help.

Thanks in advance. - Aaron.

I'd guess no one replied because no one knows :)

Got some HP laptops from the same era (around 2009), they all technically behaved very well with w8 + classic shell (but the w8 fuzzy\muddy font rendering is very prevalent on these particular models, so reverted back to 7).

A few ideas to test out and see see how it goes, may give some clues (unless it's a hardware\memory etc problem):

Try hooking it up to an external display.
Try disabling hibernation and use sleep only.
Try it in safe mode.
Try some drivers (probably display\chipset), test the w7 drivers from Software & driver downloads HP G70-111EA Notebook PC | HP® Support or look for updated drivers directly from intel\nvidia, depending of laptop config.
