Hi all,

When I close down the screen on my laptop (I guess it hibernates? Whatever the default is), then open it again, the login screen comes up. Sometimes it won´t let me put in my password. As if the keyboard isn´t working. The only key it picks up is the space bar (ie when I hit the space bar the hidden characters come up in the password panel). So I have to restart and then it works. It never happens when I start it from being shut down totally.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

You probably have some kind of "Auto-Login" turned on, and the password was wrong. You can change it to regfular login like this:

Turn on automatic logon

pull up a CMD prompt and tupe

control userpasswords2 and hit ENTER.

Place a checkmark in the box, then reboot. Then enter your password when it asks.

If you use a 3rd party software like Yamicsoft Windows 8 Manager - There is an Auto Login feature in there which saves the password, however, it does not work well if you are using an MS account to login.
