Windows Explorer stops showing files or no file thumbnail

First, It's my honor to be with you in this forum. This is my first thread !

I'm really tired and angry with a very annoying error of windows explorer.
windows explorer is getting crashed while opening any folders accidentally, especially folders with large number of files and images. first it appears as windows explorer is unable to load files thumbnails (any kind of files) and appears as white or blank icons regardless the type of file. then when opening my computer in another window , it couldn't load even contents of drivers and hangs as "searching for items".
all this happens suddenly after weeks of normal windows usage. I resolve it by backing up system using Acronis image. but the problem persists. I tried virus scan with no success using AVG. I made thorough scan for C with no result too.
Note that this problem I found with Windows 7 and it forced me to upgrade to Windows 8 then I'm experiencing the same problem now. I don't Understand why.

Note: I think there's no hardware (HDD) error cause I'm running Ubuntu 13.04 alongside Windows and it's browsing files perfectly.

    Please help quickly
    Thanks

Try doing a CHKDSK on the drive that has Windows on it, also when was the last time you optimised the drive? Scan it and see if it finds any problems. It's best to do it from an install disk and go into Command Prompt and run CHKDSK from there, that way you can see the results as it works on the drive.

Thanks for reply, I previously made thorough scan on C:\ with no result. Note that I 'm running Ubuntu 13.04 alongside Windows and it works perfectly.
The Last optimization I made before this error was disabling some programs from Tune-up Utilities 2013. I made that to decrease load on system and to increase response rate. I disabled every program I don't need to run unless I need it and open it.

Tune-Up may be what's slowing it down, although it's 80% positive reviews, the 20% that hate it hate it vehemently. But I doubt if that is what is causing this.

Usually, when you start getting long aperture circles and explorer crashing and locking up is because of Read Element Failure on the hard drive. CHKDSK won't fix it, or even detect it in some cases.

Download Hiren's Boot CD from my link, burn it and boot to it. Go into Dos Programs and in there, "Hard Drive Tools" - Try GWscan, if it detects your drive then run the 1st 2 tests, If it works and finds "Read Element Failure" then run the full scan. If GWscan won't run, because you have a Toshiba or Hitachi drive, then run the tool for those makers, it's all in the same area.

I have 17 startup items on this machine, and about the same amount on my other machine, and neither of them do what you describe. My 2nd machine used to do it, but it was always because the Hard Drive had developed read errors. Eventually I moved it to a new drive and it all stopped.

It may be something else, but I always perform a GWscan when my systems start having the same symptoms as yours. And even under normal operation, it takes a while to populate my folders, my Documents and Pictures folders have gigs of data. But it usually comes up.

As I expected before Hiren CD has no use here. HDD Health is perfect.
    Any other solutions?

I wanted the disk check because it's always a good place to start.

Since your drive is OK, Then you have one particular program running which is sucking up all of your resources. I installed BleStaxx which is a kind of Android for Windows, it caused what yo describe, but not as severe, it just caused 100% Disk and Ram usage all the time. It's not a good program at all.

You'll have to go through your programs one by one until you find what's doing it. Can you make a screencap of your Startup tasks from Task Manager? Maybe I can identify what might be causing this. I get the feeling Tune-Up is part of the problem. It may be a combination of programs.
