    Copy Files Conflict Advanced Options?

    Is there any sort of advanced options when a file conflict is encountered when copying files? The "Skip x file(s) with the same date and size" option is nice, but I'd often like to skip files which only have the same size and the date may be the same or different - it's unimportant. Is there any way to do this? It would also be nice if, when copying a folder for example, it would display specifically which file was being transferred at the time.

    Take a look at TeraCopy, may do what you want.

    I've tried out TeraCopy and I'm not sure it does what I want... If it does do what I want, I wasn't able to figure out how. When encountering a conflict, the dialogue that pops up doesn't offer any options based on size as far as I can tell.

    It gives you lots of options but I don't think any copy program has "Size" - There May be a setting in Teracopy for this. It's the best copy program for moving large blocks of Data. Usually, it looks for exact matches in Size and Name and marks it that way.;

    Right, that's what I actually meant - size and name. In windows explorer, when it encounters two files with the same name the dialogue gives you the option to "skip files with the same date and size", whereas I would like to skip files with just the same size.

    And, as far as I can tell, Teracopy behaves similarly, allowing you to manually overwrite, skip, or rename a file or all files, but the only automated "smart" overwrite is to overwrite all "older files". There doesn't seem to be an option to overwrite all "smaller files".

    Have you tried freefilesynch ?

    This is from the help menu...I think it's what you want , if I read you right....files might have the same name and date but different sizes/content?

    II. Compare by "File content"

    Two files with the same name are marked as equal if and only if they have the same content. This option is more useful for consistency checks rather than backup operations since it is naturally slower. The file modification time is not taken into account at all.
