Solved Windows not thinking I'm an admin

Hello,
Today I brought my laptop to work for the first time so I could access files at home without dropbox. At work, there were many applications I had to download, and some of them were manual installations. Most of the day was spent looking for ways to download the programs because windows 8 thought I was not an administrator, and I had problems saving files directly in C:/
Also, a lot of the commands I had to write into the command prompt were not put through due to the fact that Windows 8 does not think I'm an admin.
Just to make sure, I double checked that I am an admin, and yes, I am.
How can I fix this? It's really aggravating.

This is normal, because standard users don't have permissions to do that. Even if you have an administrative account, you work with standard user permissions unless you elevate them with the UAC prompt. You should be saving files in your profile. But if you insist on the root of the system drive, create a folder there.

(this also will allow you to save directly to the C:\ root, if you're so adamant about it).

As a side note, the problem is 7 years old...

Makes sense... So everything that I don't want it saying "you have no permission" I should run as administrator.
And yeah, I had this problem before, on my old laptop and I was doing research to find the answer but I'm not that good at reasearch...
Thanks!

Correct. Although if you start messing with your Windows, you may run into situations when even running programs as administrator does not allow you to make certain changes. This applies to accessing folders and modifying registry keys protected by special system accounts, such as TrustedInstaller.
