Windows 8 dual booted with UBUNTU

    HELP (please)

    The intro:
Hi, im new here , but unfortiently, my computer has malfunctioned , worse its my work computer with all my documents, and worse yet, its my GAMING COMPUTER . anyway, ill cut to the chase; A few months ago (i think), I got a new computer; so new infact it had this windows 8 , now windows introduses good features and all, but it takes a while to get used to. As a result I installed classic shell, and, as I generally use linux, I decided to dual-boot it with linux; I made one mistake, repartitioning the windows partition from the ubuntu installation disk , unfortently, it made windows unable to boot and only ubuntu able to boot. I foolishly, decided to wipe everything off of my computer (i dont know why now, maby as a dramatic act of rebellion) but, although I was told to make a backup, i was niaeve , and idiotic and forgot to make a backup. anyway, I had to order a $50 recover USB (you read that right USB! not a cd but a usb; at least it was a usb 3.0) anyway, I eventually got it all working on my dual boot system. However, after all of that, I thought that my windows 8 was running slow as I grew tired waiting for windows to oben, so what beter thing to do than refresh the computer! (sarcasm.) This did tow things; first it removed grub from being the default boot (I fixed that) and messed up windows .
    The Problem
luckly, after my long awated refresh, it took <sarcasm> only 10 minutes </sarcasm? to login (the sping loading wheel), but ofcorse this would only happen on the first boot up right? wrong! After I booted up I saw the windows dual boot menu, but not with Ubuntu and windows 8, but with windows 8 on drive 4 and windows 8 on drive 4 there the same! anyway I selected windows 8 on drive 5 , just kidding , wanted to make sure you were not . I selected windows 8 on drive 4, and logged in, I was greeted with a welcoming BLACK SCREEN . Now just like anyone else, my first thought was CLAASSSIC SHELLL WHAT HAVE YOU DONE (while actually my first thought was eather about an absttract mathematics problem I had been working on, or FOOD, who knows) now first thing I tried was CTR+ALT+DEL and noticed the color as Purple! yes Purple! not my chosen blue! the nerve of Windows 8 (lol) anyway, I reluctently navigated this hellish colored task menu and selected task manager. Now, a psudeo task bar appeared at the bottom of the screen which I could right click and select left side and right side, but not see any of my apps. I decided to CTR+ALt+DEL as I was in dinial about the color change to purple and was confronted with now a blue screen . I was and all, but very very .Anyway, the task manager showed up, I checked the processes, to see if it was any obvious virus; I usually have 100 proces or more runing so It would take a while to navigate every process, and when I checked, I was . I had 0 processes running! the first thing I tried to do was start classic shell, which I could not find; next I tried o start explorer.exe, which woud not start unless I ran it in admin. When I did run it in admin, I recieved an error message: "server process could not be started because htthe configured identithy is incorrect" . My computer was calling me an imposter!!!!!!!!!. Anyway, where was I before my bipolorous rant with elephents; Oh right, the error. I researched it and found to things; its generally hapning to windows 7 users, and I found a fix, which, ofcourse because of my luck, did not work. Anyway,I found : http://www.symantec.com/business/sup...t&id=TECH30821 . I attempted the fix, and was releved that I could open the configuration app it spoke of but, could not find WQRptSvr, or SERptSvr. Then I realized I was a , I forgot safe mode! when I tried safe mode, though I thought imposable, IT DID NOT WORK! yep. Same as before. so I booted out of safe mode.I was board during the login so I played with the brightness settings, a little bar appeared in the top left which responded (as well did my screen brightness.) But when I logged on, the brightness meter froze! Even more amazing, my briightness ajustment keys still worked! Also, I could not go into the upper right to acess the side bar, and when I opened IE, it stated that I was not connected to the internet. I was woundering how I could fix this problem.

Sounds like you should save everything you have that's personal from that drive, wipe it, and re-install Windows 8 from scratch, too many problems.

There comes a point where there are so many things wrong that fixing it is nigh impossible. Sorry I can't give you any other suggestions than that at this point. If you try to post the specific problem - Try not to put too many icons into the post, and I'll try to see if I can figure it out. Welcome to Windows 8 Forums!

    Dear Nicbit

You certainly are an interesting person....

WOW! I have not been so entertained for a long while...unfortunately it's a bit convoluted to nail down the exact issue... (sorry no emoticons... seems they're all used up /sigh/)

Thanks , sorry about the long response time, my computer crashed so I ended doing what xweAponx suggested, and thanks for the response superfly, sorry about it being convoluted, I procrastinated on writing this response, the initial question and all other things in life until realllly late (3AM) at which point I promptly fell asleep at the keyboard, woke up the next morning, and realized I forgot to hit post all that for nothing!
