router

Hello
I have Belkin router that worked well with Win 7 and also with Win 8, for months.
Recently, it has been losing internet and phone intermittently.
I recently had trouble with my isp's modem which involves the phone and pc.
I performed a router firmware update but still am losing both phone and internet.
Does this sound like a modem or router issue?

Is this a DSL connection? It sounds more like an ISP issue if your phone is going out as well. It could be a bad phone line, jack or the box outside. I would make a call to your ISP and have them trouble shoot the problem.

It may be a simple case of the DSL filter failing, and a replacement should solve the problem - they're relatively cheap, so even if it doesn't you will have eliminated a possible cause. Plus, you'll have a spare filter should the need arise.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a DSL filter?

It is broadband with Comcast. And I tend to agree with the phone comment. I have an appt. scheduled. I will follow up.
