[Solved] Can't access windows 8 computer.

I bought a desktop from a pawn shop a few weeks ago figured it would be a good deal. Unfortunately the person who sold it to them left a password on it. I have no way to recover the password so I need to find a way to factory reset the computer without a boot up disk.

You'll have to download Hiren's Boot CD from link below, burn it, boot to it on the affected machine. There should be an "Offline Password Changer" for XP/Vista/7 and it should work for 8 as well.

It's Linux, so you have to read the text carefully as each section scrolls up.

Here is a source page for it:

Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor

I'll try to find a tutorial on how to run it.

These are the instructions for the guys who made it:

This problem was actually solved. I found out short after posting the issue I could factory reset the computer with out the password by holding shift and the clicking restart. It took a few hours but it did work.

Ok, that sounds good, if you didn't need anything that was installed in there, now you can install your own programs at least, and saves the trouble of using the password recovery tool. It's actually easy to use, but initially it's confusing. It has to mount your drive, and using the Config folder in System32 get into the Registry Hives. But it's all laid out step by step.

As long as it restored all of the Fn key functions, you should be OK. There's actually a "Solved" button you can press if you are the Original Poster.
