Can't move files?

I have some files and shortcuts on my desktop, and I am trying to move them into my documents. When I refresh my documents they just disappear and they do not reappear in documents or the desktop. Only when I restart or log out do they reappear on the desktop.

Whats causing this?

Did they actually get moved into the Documents folder? After you move something, try right clicking on the Desktop and hitting "Refresh" - Sometimes after you change stuff on a desktop, it won't show the changes right away. Usually it does, but sometimes the screen needs to be refreshed.

The files actually move to the documents, but when I refresh documents they disappear and don't reappear until I log out or shut down.

See if you can find any clues in there, it's Technet, so some of the replies may be nonsense. I'll check it out more when I get home

Open Management Console and go to Device Manager

Open the Properties for your hard drive and check these settings:



Make sure they are set just like that if possible

I've looked in the thread above, and tried what you posted but it still does it!

Try disabling Write-Caching completely
