Laptop won't start up operating system.

On Sunday, I was using my laptop and this came up on my screen (http://i.imgur.com/IYjFfrn.jpg) After my laptop restarted, I used it for about 5 minutes before it froze. When i next used my laptop, It stayed on the Toshiba screen (the first screen when the laptop is turned on). After about 3 or 4 minutes, the laptop opens the automatic repair feature and this comes up on the screen (http://i.imgur.com/wUTtgRn.jpg). I have tried tapping both F8 and F12 throughout start up to try and repair the computer although this doesnt work either. I have opened the boot menu and tried to select the HDD Recovery option although it says no bootable media, please restart system. Any help here? Thanks

    Hi,
sorry for the delay in responding when you get to that screen where it says " your pc needs to be repaired" that the 2nd screen you showed ( the one you call automatic repair) you need to press the esc key, then you will get to another screen select troubleshoot and then refresh this will then fix windows and hopefully not get rid of your data. However it cannot be guaranteed.

    good luck
    James

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

You can use the OEM version of

Did you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disk?

When I press escape, it comes up with the bios screen. There's no option for troubleshooting

You can order the Microsoft official OEM Recovery disks from your OEM manufacturer's website.

When it stays on the OEM Splash Screen like this, it's a sign the hard drive isnt being detected. Download Hiren's Boot CD from my link and boot to it, if the laptop continuously takes 5 minutes to get past that screen, then the drive has possibly failed. If you can boot to Hiren's and it detects your drive, you can scan the drive using GWscan, which is in Dos Programs under Hard Drive tools. Or, use the Toshiba drive testing tool which is in there- If you have a Toshiba drive, that's what you'll have to use.
